Description

Maritex Bearings are purpose made for seawater and uniquely designed for the dual purposes of water lubricated hydro-dynamic high speed rotating shafts as well as completely self-lubricating slow speed applications such as rudder and ride control bearings. Intended for ambient marine operating temperatures the material has outstanding dimensional stability for both wet & dry operating conditions.

Maritex Bearings in Silty Water

When operating for extended periods in silty water, customers with vessels operating in both temperate and tropical waters have reported that Maritex Aquarius propeller shaft bearings perform extremely well. In fact the performance of Maritex Aquarius bearings operating in silty water is well beyond their expectations.

Maritex Bearings Rry Running

In addition to being developed specifically for long term immersion in seawater, Maritex bearing material is outstanding in dry conditions. It is a hard wearing, low friction, tough bearing material made from high strength thermoset resin reinforced with synthetic fibres.

Excellent Wear Characteristics

Unique reinforced Novalac resin composite provides outstanding strength and durability.

Superior Dimensional Stability

Non-melting, outstanding creep resistance and higher operating temperature together with natural lubricity permits unrivalled dry running capability.

Low and High-Speed Applications

Easily handles dry or wet operation at low speed e.g. hinge type rudder bearings as well as high speed continuous water lubricated propeller shaft bearings.

Easy to Machine

Virtually zero dust and smell, no tip wear and no annoying ribboning swarf.

Antifouling Properties

Mechanical: unique synthetic fibres resist and scrub out potentially harmful abrasives.
Chemical: material contains chemicals to reduce marine growth.
